Echelon Salon · Santa Clarita, CA
Brassiness · Banding · Uneven Tone · Over-Processed Hair
Consultation-first · Realistic plans · Expert color specialists
Color correction is one of the most technically demanding services in the salon — and one of the most commonly rushed. If you've had a color service go wrong somewhere else, you know how frustrating it is to walk out with brassiness, banding, uneven tone, or color that looks nothing like what you asked for.
At Echelon, we approach color correction differently. Every correction begins with a complimentary consultation where we assess your hair's current state, understand its history, and build a realistic plan — including honest timelines and honest cost estimates. We won't start a correction without making sure you understand what the process involves and what the realistic outcome looks like.
Some corrections take one visit. Some take several. We'll tell you upfront, and we won't cut corners to get you out of the chair faster.
If you're experiencing any of the following, a color correction consultation is the right first step.
The most common result of at-home lightening or an undertone mismatch. Warm, brassy, or orange tones left behind after bleaching or highlighting — correctable with the right toner, gloss, or re-lightening process.
Visible lines of demarcation where different color processes meet — from root touch-ups, previous color layers, or DIY box dye over professional color. Requires careful blending or re-processing to eliminate.
Color that's darker in some spots and lighter in others, often from uneven application or processing. Creates a mottled, inconsistent look that's very noticeable in natural light.
Over-deposited color — often from box dye or too many root touch-ups — that's become too dark, muddy, or flat. Lightening over dark color requires careful assessment to avoid damage.
Over-toned hair that's gone too cool, too green, or too grey. Common when toners are left on too long or the wrong undertone is applied. Usually correctable in a single visit.
Hair that's been bleached or processed too aggressively and is now breaking, gummy, or extremely porous. Requires a health-first approach — we'll prioritize restoring integrity before pursuing any color goal.
Color correction is not a service where speed and shortcuts produce good outcomes. Our stylists take the time to assess, plan, and execute carefully — even if that means more appointments to get the right result safely.
We've corrected color from other salons, from at-home box dye, from DIY bleach kits, and from well-intentioned experiments. Whatever your situation, we'll look at it honestly and tell you exactly what we can do.
We assess your hair's current state, history, and goal. You get an honest plan with realistic expectations and clear cost estimates before anything begins.
Before any chemical process, we evaluate your hair's integrity. If your hair needs strengthening before correction, we'll tell you and build that into the plan.
Complex corrections may require multiple sessions. We'll map out the full journey — what happens at each appointment and what the result will look like at each stage.
Once we've achieved your goal, we build a maintenance plan to keep your color healthy and prevent the same issues from recurring.
Before you book, here's what we want you to know about color correction — because we'd rather you have the right expectations than be disappointed.
Significant corrections — especially lifting very dark box dye or correcting over-processed hair — require a staged approach. Rushing leads to damage. We won't do it.
Color correction is priced by the work required, not a flat rate. We give you a clear, honest quote at your consultation — no surprises at the register.
If your hair isn't in a state where correction is safe, we'll tell you. Sometimes the right answer is to strengthen the hair for a few weeks before pursuing the color goal.
If a desired result isn't achievable without significant damage to your hair, we'll tell you that too — and suggest the closest alternative that keeps your hair healthy.
"I came in with a complete disaster from an at-home dye kit. My stylist was honest about what was possible, built a two-visit plan, and the result after visit two was exactly what I wanted. I couldn't believe it."— Google Review · Echelon Salon Santa Clarita

Yes — box dye correction is one of the most common corrections we handle. Box dye penetrates deeply and can be difficult to lift, but with the right approach and realistic timeline, we can get you to a professional result. Consultation required first.
It depends entirely on the severity of the correction needed and the current health of your hair. Minor corrections can often be done in a single visit. Complex corrections — lifting very dark hair, fixing significant banding, correcting over-processed hair — may require 2–4 sessions. Your stylist will give you a clear timeline at your consultation.
Properly executed color correction should not significantly damage healthy hair. Our approach always prioritizes hair health — if your hair isn't strong enough to handle the required process, we'll tell you and recommend strengthening treatments first. Bring photos of your current hair in natural light, photos of your desired result, and as much information as you can about your hair's history — what processes it's had, what products you use, how long ago any color was done. The more context we have, the better we can plan.
